La Casareccia is a family restaurant founded by Mario and Rita and now run by their children Luca who is the Chef and Stefania who runs the restaurant. Their local specialities include ‘Fettuccine with Chicken Giblets’,  gnocchi in a lamb sauce and ‘manfricoli’, a local pasta similar to tagliatelle but made with water and durum wheat. "These are the main dishes cooked by our mother” says Stefania but they also serve a wonderful chicken cacciatore and lamb with truffles and offal. Luca has continued Mario and Rita’s passion for food and, after mastering his Mother’s dishes, has started to innvoate with the local fresh produce. He chooses flour made from ancient grains to prepare the fettuccine, manfricoli, pizzas and desserts; eggs from nearby farms and he hand selects the meat. For manfricoli, Luca uses a Verna grain produced by the company Alberigo Finistauri, owner of the farm, Piano Grande, of Avigliano. Luca’s passion is Legumes which he uses in soups, creams, hamburgers that are also perfect for their vegetarian and vegan customers. This local family restaurant, say Luca and Stefania, is a place where you come to feel "at home".
